THREE LIVES, THREE LIES

Introducing... My Amazing Super Talented Photographer Artist Musician Friend Jason!

These three photographs were taken for an English project. We spent a good chunk of our Monday refining the concept and gathering props for the photo shoot. All editing credits go to Jason, who's absolutely superb when it comes to these kind of shoots.

The four of us had a blast running around taking photos in Jason's basement. I had a particularly fun time arranging the lights for the photos. That, and the concepts, are my contributions to today's entry.

Here's the run down on the concept. Basically, this piece is a creative piece done for an English assignment on exploring the philosophies of certain short stories. Our story involves three people, with three different stories of how a man came to lie dead in a grove.

From left to right is the Wife, the Husband, and the Thief. In each character's confession they claim to have killed the husband. The shadowy reflection is the side of the character that is portrayed through their own version of events, and the solid is what other people perceive them to be.

Our philosophical examination includes the discussion of what reality is and how we define the truth.

One way to look at the story is that all three are lying. Another way is to accept the idea that if each of them lend enough belief to their stories, their belief makes their stories true.
